Jasmi Joensuu Claims the Sprint Globe in Lahti
A Historic Victory on Home Soil
This Friday, at the end of the freestyle sprint event in the Cross-Country World Cup in Lahti (Finland), Jasmi Joensuu made history. The 28-year-old Finnish skier secured her first crystal globe thanks to her consistency and determination throughout the season.
A Breakthrough Season
This season was a milestone for Joensuu, as she claimed her first-ever World Cup podium in the freestyle sprint in Toblach (Italy) during the Tour de Ski. Her impressive performances throughout the year have now earned her a place in Finnish skiing history. She becomes only the second Finnish athlete to win the sprint crystal globe, following in the footsteps of Virpi Kuitunen, who claimed the title in 2007.
Breaking Sweden’s Dominance
Joensuu held her ground against the world’s top sprinters, putting an end to Sweden’s dominance in the event since the 2021/2022 season. She was followed in the overall standings by Switzerland’s Nadine Faehndrich and Sweden’s Maja Dahlqvist.
Julbo Intensity Reactiv: The Perfect Racing Ally
Throughout the season, Jasmi has relied on her Julbo Intensity Reactiv sunglasses to adapt to ever-changing light conditions on the track. With their photochromic lenses offering optimal vision in all weather conditions, they have been a key ally in her performances at the highest level.
A stunning achievement for Joensuu and a proud moment for Finnish cross-country skiing!
